In some cases however, abnormal changes in a woman’s menstrual cycle can be a sign of other conditions. Some signs of menstruation abnormalities include:

  • Bleeding after sex
  • Unusually heavy or unusually light flow during periods
  • Menstrual cycles that occur less or more frequently than normal
  • Heavy bleeding (Menorrhagia)
  • Missing periods
  • Periods that are longer or shorter than normal
  • Spotting or bleeding between periods
  • Bleeding after menopause
